It’s easy to find things to do on the weekends. If you can’t find things to do on the weekend, you need more help than I can give you.

But finding fun things to do during the week, that is tricky. Many places assume that people are too busy on weeknights to come out and play, which might be true for the Perkytogethers and the smug marrieds. Us single peeps have the benefit/curse of lots of free time.

5 Days and $50 gives you a guide to how to spend your time without spending money. These are 5 events going on in Tampa Bay that, if you did all of them, would cost less than $50. For more information check out this post.

Without further ado, here’s your guide for getting through next week.

Monday 2/25 8PM-10PM Mellow Mondays spoken word poetry. $7.

Every Monday JoJo’s Way Grill and Seafood (8615 N. 56th Street, Temple Terrace, FL 33617) hosts this showcase of local spoken word artists and poets. Even Tampa natives might not know that we have a amazingly talented creative community in our area, but that will change once you see their work. Print out this coupon for a free drink from the bar.

Tuesday 2/26 6PM-7:30PM Palm Harbor Mingles Networking. $5. Advanced Reservations Required.

Networking sounds scary, but really it’s just live action MySpace. Trade business cards, chat for a few minutes, and then ask them to “friend” you. Monthly Mingles Networking Events are aimed at professionals looking to make new business contacts, but it is also GREAT for single people. Unlike a bar or single’s meet-up you can be count on everyone here has a job. Today’s event is held at the HD Sports Grill (3286 U.S. Highway 19 North – just South of Nebraska Palm Harbor, FL 34684 ).

Wednesday 2/27 8PMDocumentaries at Cafe Bohemia FREE!

Every Wednesday St. Pete’s Cafe Bohemia (937 Central Ave. St. Petersburg) educates and invites debate with it’s free documentary series. Tonight they screen the PBS expose “The Brooklyn Connection”, a look at how easily one businessman became a gun runner for Kosovo. It’s a great place to meet and mingle with other Bay Area progressive thinkers.

Thursday 2/28 7PM Monty Python and the Holy Grail at Ruth Eckerd Hall FREE.

In celebration of the upcoming musical Spamalot, Clearwater’s Ruth Eckerd Hall (1111 N McMullen Booth Rd. Clearwater) will be showing the Monty Python and the Holy Grail for free! Free movie, free popcorn and free soft-drinks. Come in costume and you could even win some special prizes. The film starts a 7PM but seating is limited to the first 200 people, so you’ll want to be there when doors open at 6.

Friday 2/29 8PM The Feminazi at The Studio @ 620. $15- a portion of the ticket price goes to support CASA St. Pete

What is a Feminazi? Why do so many women refuse to identify with feminism? How have women been viewed in religion? These are just some of the questions you’ll be talking about after seeing The Feminazi. This female empowering play is perfect to go to with your single girlfriends to celebrate being fierce females on Friday night. Who needs a bad date with a guy when you can have fun with the girls! Best of all, it’s for a good cause. Some of the money is going to support CASA of St. Pete, a domestic violence shelter for women and children. The play is held at The Studio at 620 (620 First Avenue South St. Petersburg, FL 33701). You can buy tickets in advance at http://thestudioat620.org/

That’s it for the week. 5 kickass events that ass up to just $32 bucks.

If you want to set up a ride share or meetup at one of these events feel free to use the comment section.

If you have any ideas for future events for 5 days and $50, email me at melissa.becker@gmail.com.
